It takes years to build it, but just minutes to destroy it

I was walking back to my hostel from campus when I walked pass this construction site near N3. They are demolishing this building with around 4 workshops and I guess most probably they are building a bigger and better workshops for the MAE students.

This make me start wondering, how long did they take to build the last workshops?

I guess maybe it took them minimum months or even a year to build it... But it just took them just a week to domolish the whole building!!

It's so difficult to build something, but it's so easy to destroy them.

Have you ever tried taking days or months to complete a 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle, but destroy it in seconds just b'cos it fell onto the floor before you glue the pieces together?

Guess this philosophy is very true and applicable in every part of our life.

Friendship takes time to foster, but yet can easily destroy with just a hurting statement.

Some couples went through difficulty to be together, but broke up just b'cos of a silly misunderstanding.

A doctor who studied so hard to get his medical degree, but was killed instantly in a road accident.

Someone who has been well-respected and well-loved by everyone, but hated by everyone later just b'cos of a stupid mistake he made.

Relationship and life is so fragile, protect it.

In the nutshell: It takes years to build it, but just minutes to destroy it.

I am who I am

I'm reading this book "Happiness Now" by Andrew Matthews. Well, it suppose to be a life changing book with meaningful quotes and stories. Hopefully, it's able to show me a way to enlightenment...haha....

"You don't find happiness in the absence of problems.
You find happiness in spite of problems."

Bought this book at Kinokuniya during the Parco midnight Sale. Saw this book and while flipping through it, the text that caught my attention is the one about relationships quoted in my previous blog entry.

Suddenly realised that I'm the type of person that always tries too hard... and the worse thing is, in life, there is such thing as trying too hard!!

Therefore, realised that I'll find happiness if I don't try too hard.

Other than chasing girlfriends too hard and helping people too much.. I don't think I'm that type of person that will try to impress people or shout at others.

I am who I am.

If you find me boring, unromantic, quiet, shy, uncool, old, no dress-sense, etc...

That's me...

If you find me poor, lousy in languages, ugly, bastard, loser, etc...

That's me...

To others, I may be an unpolished gems. To you, I am a f*cking idiot!

To others, I may be a crappy guy. To you, I am a f*cking loser!

I cannot change your perception you had on me.

Only time can show you who I'm really am, if you willing to find out more about me.

You never know what the future holds.

Relationships

Relationships are tricky!

The strategies we think SHOULD work, don't work!
The strategies we think WON'T work, do work...

Impressing people:

When we try to impress people - by proving thst we are clever or rich or cool - people can see through us. And we look silly.

We usually impress other people when we AREN'T TRYING to. That's why babies and animals and very old people are so appealing. They don't care what you think - they are perfectly natural.

Chasing people:

When we chase girlfriends, boyfriends - even dogs - they run away!
Why? Because we are chasing them!

When we try to trap people in relationships, they can't wait to escape!
When we LET GO of people, they often come back!

Helping people:

When we try to help others - children, friends, employees - by solving their problems, they become dependent on us - and even lazy! The more we help, the less they do.

Mostly, we help people by NOT HELPING too much.

Getting people's attention:

When we desperate to be heard, we shout at people. And the louder we shout, the less they hear. Strangely, the opposite works.

People pay attention to us when we LISTEN.

IN A NUTSHELL: There's such a thing as trying too hard!

Quoted the above from "Happiness Now" by Andrew Matthews

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?

Your Birthdate: February 13

Being born on the 13th day of the month should help make you a better manager and organizer, but it may also give you a tendency to dominate people a bit.

You may be more responsible and self-disciplined than you realize.

Sincere and honest, you are a serious, hard working individual.

Your feeling are likely to seem somewhat repressed at times.

You are apt to be much more practical, rational, and conscious of details.

Your intolerance and insistence on complete accuracy can be irritating to some.

COMEX 2005

Went to COMEX 2005 at Suntec over the weekend as I was interested in getting a new PC. I was about to order a Dell PC but last minute decided not to get it just becos that system doesn't come with a serial port!!

You see, the reason why I'm getting a new PC is becos of my FYP. The development board that I'm using for my FYP communicate with the PC thru serial communication. As my laptop does not have a serial port, I bought a USB to Serial cable for the connection. BUT dunno why, the program fails to detect the board!! sighz... no choice, best solution, get a new PC...

Since not getting any PC, just jalan jalan around the fair. Then saw something that attracts me. It is the Digilife DDV-V1 8-in-1 camera!!

Wow!! this "made in taiwan" camera comes with 10.0 Mega pixels, 10x digital zoom. It is a digital still camera, MP4 DVD-quality digital video camera, mp3 player, voice recorder, TV recorder, personal media player, and many functions that I cannot remember liao!!

Really interested to get it, but it cost $398!! But think about it, $398 for a 10.0 MP camera still quite cheap mah... The reason that keep stopping me from getting the camera is WHY DO I STILL NEED ANOTHER CAMERA???

I already got a digital camera and I love it very much... It went thru alot with me... Both happy and sad moments, it's there with me... that's why really cannot find any reason why do I need another camera... Therefore, I concluded it more of a WANT than a NEED.

I want I want that camera!!

你可以不爱我,但你可以让我爱吗?

That's Peiyun's MSN nick.

Find it very meaningful so ask her where she got this quote. Well, she said it's from the trailer of a upcoming ch 8 drama.

Wah!! really need to pei4 fu2 the mediacorp scriptwriter, can come up with such a tagline for the drama serial. But drama is always drama... Don't think in real life, things come happen that way. Don't think any girl will allows the guy to love her even when she doesn't love him at all...

Sad to say, but good to know...that tagline is just a wishful thinking... Wishful thinking for ppl who still can't let go...

As for me, think is time to let go... but it's easier for me to say than to do it...

Playing "Be as you were when we met" by S.E.N.S.

I find this instrumental song very sad. If it's used as the background music in the saddest part of a sad movie, sure lots of ppl will cry one... Don't believe?
